Iran has supported Chinese President Xi Jinping’s four-point proposal to ensure lasting peace and security in the West Asian region and end the ongoing war with the US and Israel, amidst uncertainty over negotiations mediated by Pakistan between Washington and Tehran.
In a post on X on Tuesday (May 12, 2026), Iranian Ambassador to China Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said Tehran was ready to support Xi’s proposal, and this comment comes ahead of US President Donald Trump’s scheduled visit to Beijing for a summit meeting with the Chinese President later this month.
Fazli said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had discussed the four-point proposal during his recent meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has announced its readiness to support the Chinese President’s four-point plan aimed at establishing lasting security and shared development in the Persian Gulf region,” the envoy said.
Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in India Yu Jing said the four-point proposal focused on West Asian peace, sovereignty of nations involved in the Gulf regional conflict, international law, and coordinated development of the region.
Xi had proposed peaceful coexistence through the creation of a “common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable” security framework for West Asia and the Gulf region.
He also proposed respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations that are stakeholders in the region, while ensuring the protection of the people, institutions, and critical infrastructure in the region.
The Chinese President also stressed the adherence to international laws, warning against the global system descending into what he described as the “law of the jungle.”
The last proposal was on balancing development and security by promoting regional cooperation aimed at long-term economic growth and stability in the region.
Xi’s proposal and Iran’s support for those discussion points came just ahead of Trump’s visit to Beijing on May 13, 14, and 15 for a summit meeting with the Chinese counterpart, when the two leaders are expected to discuss the West Asian conflict resolution.
