The Indian Army and Indian Navy on Thursday (May 14) signed a Memorandum of Association (MoA) on Affiliation to strengthen inter-service cooperation and promote greater jointness between the two forces.

The agreement was signed by Lt Gen VPS Kaushik, Adjutant General, on behalf of the Indian Army, and Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, Chief of Personnel, on behalf of the Indian Navy.

The memorandum aims to institutionalise inter-service cooperation, strengthen operational cohesion and foster enduring professional camaraderie between formations, regiments, institutions, establishments and ships of the Indian Army and Navy, All India Radio News reported.

The report says the cooperation framework will pave the way for future inter-service affiliations and lay down broad guidelines governing affiliation activities between the two Services.

The move comes amid the armed forces’ broader focus on integrated war fighting and greater coordination across land, sea and air domains. The military has also been emphasising stronger synergy among the three Services following recent operational experiences, including Operation Sindoor, which highlighted coordinated tri-service operations.
