New Delhi: The Indian Air Force marked its 94th Air Force Day on Thursday with a ceremonial parade and a display of its frontline combat platforms at Hindan Air Force Station, showcasing the force’s operational strength and preparedness. The celebrations brought together senior military leadership, former IAF chiefs and personnel as the force highlighted its role in an increasingly air-centric battlefield.

At Hindan Air Force Station, the Indian Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, said the IAF remained alert and ready to respond to any challenge. Recalling Operation Sindoor, he highlighted the speed of the force’s combat operations and said the operation demonstrated the IAF’s ability to respond effectively during a crisis.

“Conflicts in parts of the world have shown air power is the primary means of protecting the interests of a nation,” Singh said, pointing to the changing nature of warfare and the growing role of air power. His remarks came as the IAF showcased fighter aircraft, helicopters, weapons and air defence systems at event.

The celebrations began with a ceremonial parade attended by the three service chiefs, senior military officials and several former IAF chiefs. Singh arrived at the venue in a vintage car from the 1960s, while three helicopters flew overhead in a ‘Dhwaj’ formation, adding a ceremonial touch to the proceedings.

The static display brought several of the IAF’s frontline platforms together at the airbase. Rafale, Su-30MKI and Jaguar fighter aircraft, along with the indigenous LCH Prachand and ALH Dhruv helicopters, were showcased alongside critical weapons and air defence systems.

The skies over Jodhpur also became a stage for the IAF’s famed display teams and combat aircraft. The Suryakiran Aerobatic Team performed precision manoeuvres, while the Sarang helicopter display team demonstrated the capabilities of India’s indigenous helicopter platform, with Tejas and Su-30MKI aircraft also adding to the aerial spectacle.

The Air Force Day celebrations are being held under the theme “Indian Air Force – Infallible, Impervious and Precise.” In simple terms, the theme reflects the IAF’s aim to remain dependable in combat, resilient against threats and precise in carrying out its missions.

In his message on the eve of Air Force Day, ACM Singh said the IAF was committed to protecting the country with constant alertness and firm resolve. He said Operation Sindoor had reaffirmed the importance of integrated air operations and demonstrated the force’s capability to defend India’s sovereignty.

Singh also highlighted the IAF’s major activities during the year, including Exercise Vayushakti, bilateral exercises, Dronathon and Tarang Shakti 2026. These engagements, he said, were helping the force test its combat readiness while rapidly bringing emerging and niche technologies into its operational plans.

The celebrations also carry a personal significance for ACM Singh, who is scheduled to retire on October 31. Reflecting on his tenure, the ACM described it as a matter of pride and said leading the Indian Air Force had been his greatest fortune.

The Air Force Day events at Hindan and Jodhpur came as Tarang Shakti 2026, the IAF’s multinational air combat exercise, continues to bring Indian and foreign air forces together. From the ceremonial parade and static displays to the roar of fighter jets and precision aerobatics overhead, the celebrations offered a visual demonstration of the IAF’s combat readiness, indigenous capabilities and evolving role in modern warfare.
