IAF Chief Amar Preet Singh Begins Sri Lanka Visit to Deepen Defence Ties

Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh began a three-day official visit to Sri Lanka on Tuesday (May 19) to enhance strategic and defence engagement between India and Sri Lanka.
On his arrival, Air Chief Marshal was accorded a guard of honour at Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) headquarters in Colombo.
The Sri Lanka Air Force confirmed that the visit included tributes at the IPKF Memorial, official engagements with Sri Lankan counterpart, and meetings with Sri Lanka’s Deputy Defence Minister and Defence Secretary.
Sharing highlights of the visit on social media, the Sri Lanka Air Force noted, “Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh’s visit to Sri Lanka highlights the enduring friendship and defence cooperation between India and Sri Lanka. The visit included tributes at the IPKF Memorial and official engagements with the Sri Lanka Air Force.”
The visit comes amid growing defence engagement between India and Sri Lanka in the strategically significant Indian Ocean Region.
During his visit, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh is also scheduled to visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and hold meetings with the chiefs of the Sri Lankan Army and Navy, according to AIR.
The Indian Air Force chief will remain in Sri Lanka until Thursday (May 21) as part of efforts to deepen bilateral defence and strategic cooperation.
