Ramban crash leaves five BSF personnel injured in Jammu

New Delhi: At least five Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured after a vehicle carrying them overturned in the Ramban district of Jammu & Kashmir on Saturday. The vehicle was travelling as part of a Jammu-bound BSF convoy when the accident took place along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
The accident occurred near Chamba-Seri in Ramban district when the BSF vehicle overturned. The incident briefly disrupted the movement of the convoy as authorities launched a rescue operation at the spot and evacuated the injured personnel for medical treatment.
The injured personnel have been identified as Sub-Inspector Ghar Singh, driver Shamim Ahmed, and constables Sunil Kumar, Parshtum Kumar and Chandan Yadhav. They were shifted to a nearby hospital after sustaining injuries in the accident, PTI reported.
The rescue operation was launched immediately after the accident. The Hindu, citing police officials, reported that the driver, a resident of Kupwara district in north Kashmir, was in a serious condition.
The Jammu-Srinagar national highway is a key road link connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, and sees heavy movement of security forces, civilian traffic and essential supplies. Accidents along the highway have previously caused temporary disruptions to traffic, particularly in areas prone to difficult terrain and adverse road conditions.
