New Delhi: Indian gangster Himanshu Bhau and his associate Neeraj Faridpuria have been detained by US immigration authorities in Nevada. Indian agencies are now working with US officials to bring the two men back to India, where they face multiple criminal cases.
Both accused are being held at the Henderson Detention Centre near Las Vegas. Their cases are being handled by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations office in Las Vegas. The next steps in their cases are yet to be confirmed.
According to report, two men may have exposed their identities while trying to seek asylum in the United States. They allegedly approached immigration authorities to begin the process, bringing their personal details and biometric records into the system. These details reportedly helped authorities connect them to wanted fugitives from India, the Times of Indian reported.
Fake identities led to their detection
According to report, Bhau allegedly travelled using the name Himanshu Singroha, while Faridpuria used the name Neeraj Kaushik. Indian agencies reportedly shared photographs, biometric details and other information with US authorities to verify their identities.
Bhau, whose reported real name is Himanshu Ritoliya, is from Rohtak in Haryana. He faces several criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder, extortion and forgery. Interpol had placed him on their Red Notice in August 2023.
Bhau left India in 2022, whereas Faridpuria reportedly fled India in 2019. It was reported that Faridpuria shifted to the United States from Portugal at the end of 2025. He was reportedly arrested early this year and released on bail before his most recent arrest after removing the ankle monitor.
Bhau’s criminal gang has been accused of involvement in many well-known criminal cases in Delhi and Haryana. This includes the murder of Congress party politician Vikas Chaudhary in Faridabad in 2019 and another murder case in Aya Nagar, south Delhi in 2024, where more than 70 rounds of firing was done.
There have also been reports associating this gang with the murder of a person in the Burger King restaurant in Delhi’s Rajouri Garden in 2024. According to Bhau, he was responsible for this murder as the deceased had murdered his colleague, Shakti Dad, in 2020.
In August 2025, gunmen opened fire at Indian YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s house in Gurugram. Police later arrested two gunmen. Authorities implicated Bhau and Faridpuria in procuring arms and logistics for the shooting.
The gang has also been linked to the killing of an aide of Haryanvi singer Rahul Yadav, known as Fazilpuria, in Gurugram. The cases add to the criminal investigations Indian authorities are pursuing against the network.
How could India bring them back?
Indian authorities are seeking to speed up the process through coordination with US officials. According to report, a team of Indian officers may travel to the United States to assist, although no confirmed timeline has been announced.
The procedure for deportation and extradition is not the same. Deportation will present an avenue whereby one will be able to send back a person who breaches immigration laws. On the other hand, extradition entails a legal process where someone is sent to another country in order to prosecute the individual for the crime he or she committed.
An application for asylum or request for protection could impact the schedule. US officials need to figure out how the immigration cases will progress before they can confirm the men’s departure.
A previous case involved Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. He was arrested in the US in 2024 and subsequently deported to India on November 19, 2025. He was arrested by the National Investigation Agency on his arrival in New Delhi. The future legal proceedings of Bhau and Faridpuria are unclear at the moment.
