J&K police reshuffle: Sujit Kumar gets Kashmir IG post, Tejinder Singh to head Jammu Zone
Sujit Kumar appointed IGP, Kashmir Zone.
New Delhi: The Jammu & Kashmir government has reshuffled 14 police officers, appointing Sujit Kumar as IG Kashmir Zone and Tejinder Singh as IG Jammu Zone. The reshuffle also brings changes to senior positions in the CID, security, armed police and railways, besides new postings in several districts.
Sujit Kumar, a 2007-batch IPS officer, has been moved from his post as IG security, to head the Kashmir Zone.
Tejinder Singh, a 2008-batch IPS officer who was serving as IG CID, will take charge of the Jammu Zone. He replaces Bhim Sen Tuti, who has been posted as IG J&K Police Headquarters, J&K.
Changes in CID, security and railways
MK Sinha, a 1996-batch IPS officer, has been posted as ADG CID. He replaces Nitish Kumar, who will now head the Armed Police as ADG J&K Armed Police. Vivek Gupta, a 2007-batch IPS officer and outgoing IGP railways, has been posted as IGP security, replacing Sujit Kumar.
Uttam Chand, a 2002-batch IPS officer, will take over as IGP railways. He will also continue to hold additional charge of police operations and services at J&K Police Headquarters until further orders.
Shakti Kumar Pathak, a 2009-batch IPS officer, has been designated director of the J&K Police Anti-Corruption Bureau. Mubassir Latifi Ameer, a 2011-batch IPS officer, has been posted as DIG IR Kashmir. He was serving as DIG personnel at J&K Police Headquarters and was also holding additional charge of DIG Training.
District-level postings changed
The reshuffle also affects police leadership in several districts. Sahil Sarangal, a 2017-batch IPS officer, has been moved from Handwara and posted as SSP Pulwama. Sunny Gupta, a 2020-batch IPS officer who was serving as additional SP Anantnag, has been posted as SSP Kishtwar.
Tahir Saleem Khan, a JKPS officer, has been posted as SSP Handwara.
Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, another JKPS officer, has been moved from SSP SCW Kashmir and posted as Staff Officer to the IG Kashmir Zone. Naresh Singh, a JKPS officer who was serving as SSP Kishtwar, has been posted as SSP Rajouri.
The transfers and postings take effect immediately, according to the government order.
