New Delhi: All Indian airlines have extended flight suspensions to Saudi Arabia as continuing airspace restrictions and security concerns disrupt travel across the region. Akasa Air on Sunday extended cancellations on its Jeddah route until November 18 and Riyadh route until November 30.

In its latest travel advisory, Akasa Air said services to and from Jeddah and Riyadh would remain suspended until the respective dates. The airline said it was monitoring developments and assessing the situation, with passenger and crew safety remaining its priority.

In a post on X, Akasa Air said that affected passengers can opt for a full refund, to be credited to their original payment method within seven days, or reschedule their journey without additional charges. Passengers who booked through travel partners have been advised to contact them directly.

Earlier this month, Indigo has cancelled flights to and from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah until November 14, citing ongoing airspace restrictions. The airline said its teams were contacting affected passengers and providing assistance with their bookings.

The disruptions have also prompted the Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia to issue advisories for Indian nationals. The missions have asked travellers, particularly those planning to undertake Umrah, to account for possible flight cancellations and extended stays before making travel plans.

The situation follows a series of attacks on civilian and critical infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. An attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam on October 21 killed an Indian national and injured two others. Another Indian national was injured in an attack on the Shaybah oilfield in the country’s Eastern Province on the same day.

Earlier, an attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport on October 10 also killed an Indian national and injured several others.

Indian diplomatic missions have urged nationals to follow local authorities’ instructions and exercise caution as the security situation evolves. They have also been assisting Indians seeking to return home through coordination with airlines and tour operators.
