The US, on Wednesday (May 27, 2026), totally rejected an Iranian claim of a draft peace deal, calling it a “complete fabrication.”
An Iranian state-run media claimed that Washington had shared a draft outline of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tehran to end the West Asian war.
The Iranian media also claimed the MoU included an American commitment to lift the naval blockade of Iran and withdrawal of forces from West Asia.
“This report from Iranian controlled media is not true and the MOU they ‘released’ is a complete fabrication,” the White House said on X.
“Nobody should believe what Iranian state media is putting out. FACTS MATTER,” the X post read, lashing out the US media for reporting an Iranian claim.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said Iran wanted an agreement, but the progress of talks were insufficient.
“They want very much to make a deal. So far, they haven’t gotten there,” Trump said.
“We’re not satisfied with it, but we will be…either that or we’ll have to just finish the job,” he said.
“They’re negotiating on fumes, but we’ll see what happens,” he added.
Meanwhile, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy’s deputy political chief Mohammad Akbarsedeh claimed the likelihood of war returning to West Asia was “low” because of the US-Israel weakness.
Akbarsedeh claimed the Iranian armed forces were lying in wait with full armament to take on the US-Israeli forces if they restarted the war.
He warned that the Iranian military would turn the area along the nation’s coastline “into a graveyard for aggressors.”
