New Delhi: India and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence industrial and technological cooperation during the fifth India-Russia Army Land System Sub-Group (ALSSG) meeting, being held in New Delhi from August 4 to 7. The development was announced by the Indian Army in a post on X.

The four-day meeting is being held under the aegis of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) to further strengthen the longstanding defence partnership between the two countries. The Indian delegation is being led by lieutenant general Rahul R Singh, deputy chief of army staff (Capability Development and Sustenance), while the Russian delegation is headed by major general Tufekchi Aleksandr, deputy head of the main armoured directorate of the Russian defence ministry.

According to the Army, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing mutual trust and advancing defence industrial and technological cooperation. The meeting follows the 14th India-Russia Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism, held in New Delhi on July 8 (Wednesday).

During the counterterrorism dialogue, India and Russia condemned terrorism in all its forms, including cross-border terrorism, and called for coordinated action against terrorists, terrorist groups, their proxies and affiliates. The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation at multilateral forums, including the United Nations, BRICS, the Eurasian Group (EAG) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
