Government discloses expenditure on prime minister’s foreign visits for 2026 in parliamentary reply

New Delhi: The government, responding to a question in Parliament, has released a detailed breakdown of expenditure incurred on the prime minister’s official overseas visits undertaken so far in 2026. The total cost of these engagements amounting to ₹74,58,93,797, approximately ₹74.59 crore, across visits to eleven countries between February and July.
The disclosures, made in a written reply to a parliamentary question, cover a series of bilateral and multilateral engagements across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Oceania.
According to the figures, the prime minister’s visit to Malaysia (February 7–8) cost ₹5,57,17,369, while the trip to Israel (February 25–26) amounted to ₹11,92,25,938 – the second-highest expenditure among all the visits listed.
A multi-nation tour spanning UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy (May 15–20) recorded expenditures of ₹1,97,67,864 for UAE, ₹3,59,99,358 for the Netherlands, ₹6,32,90,593 for Sweden, ₹17,46,50,390 for Norway, and ₹4,23,88,557 for Italy. The Norway leg emerged as the single costliest stop in the entire itinerary.
The Slovak Republic visit, part of a tour that also included France (June 13–18), cost ₹4,77,43,080.
The visit to Seychelles (June 27–29) cost ₹8,22,03,329, and the most recent multi-country tour covering Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand (July 6–11) recorded expenditures of ₹3,87,13,468, ₹1,18,30,810, and ₹5,43,63,041 respectively.
Several figures, marked with an asterisk in the official record, remain provisional and are subject to revision pending final settlement of bills.
The total figure, however, does not include expenditure for the French leg of the June visit, as the compilation of bills for that segment is still underway. Once finalized, the France figure is expected to push the overall total higher.
