Pakistan, on Thursday (May 14, 2026), test-launched its indigenous Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile to train its forces in firing the weapon to enhance troop readiness and validate system performance.
In a statement, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military media wing, said the Army Rocket Force Command conducted the test successfully.
“The training fire was conducted to enhance operational efficiency of the troops and validate technical parameters of various sub-systems incorporated for improved accuracy and enhanced survivability,” it added.
The Fatah series of weapon systems forms part of Pakistan’s domestic missile development programme for improving the precision strike capability of its armed forces.
“Equipped with advanced avionics and state-of-the-art navigational aids, the weapon system is capable of engaging long-range targets with high precision,” ISPR said.
Senior military officers, scientists, and engineers from the developing agency witnessed the Fatah-4 launch, the ISPR said, adding that the test was to validate technical parameters of various sub-systems incorporated in the weapon for improved accuracy and enhanced survivability.
The missile test comes just after nuclear-armed Pakistan observed the first anniversary of its short, four-day war with nuclear-armed neighbour, India, in May 2025, after the latter launched Operation Sindoor to avenge the killing of 26 civilians in Pahalgam in April that year.
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of the Air Staff Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu commended the successful launch.
They appreciated the technical expertise, dedication, and commitment of all personnel who contributed to the successful training fire of the Fatah-series missile.
On X, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar called the achievement a significant milestone. “The successful test marks another significant milestone in strengthening the country’s indigenous defence capabilities and strategic deterrence,” he said.

The Army Rocket Force Command conducted the test, which came about two weeks after a successful training launch of the indigenously developed Fateh-II missile system.
At the time, the ISPR said the launch was witnessed by senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division, Army Rocket Force Command, and Pakistan Army, along with scientists and Engineers of Strategic Organisations.
