US President Donald Trump, on Friday (May 29, 2026), concluded a meeting in the White House’s Situation Room on the Iran peace deal, but without announcing a final decision on whether he had approved a memorandum of agreement to stop the three-month war.

Before heading to the meeting, Trump had posted on Truth Social that he would be making a “final determination” on the peace deal with Iran, but after listing what he thought Tehran must do for him to agree to stop the war.

But he did not clarify what the non-negotiables in the peace agreement for the US are. However, he had signalled earlier that Iran “must agree” to never have a nuclear weapon and immediately open the Strait of Hormuz for cargo traffic unconditionally.

He also noted that the US naval blockade of Iranian ports would “now be lifted”, though it was unclear if he meant that the American Navy would stop the naval blockade if Iran met his conditions.

Trump also vowed to “unearth” the Iranian enriched uranium buried at secret sites that the US had attacked last year, “in close coordination and conjunction with the Islamic Republic of Iran, plus the International Atomic Energy Agency, and DESTROYED.”

Meanwhile, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, Mohsen Razaee, said on X that Trump was “betraying diplomacy.” He said, “By continuing the naval blockade and making excessive demands in negotiations, he (Trump) has once again proven that he is not inclined toward negotiation and is pursuing other objectives.”

Iran’s media, meanwhile, claimed the agreement draft did not contain references to Iran dismantling or destroying its nuclear materials. It asserted that the most important part of the agreement was the immediate payment of $12 billion of Iran’s frozen assets. It said Iran would refuse any further negotiations if the frozen assets are not released immediately.

Meanwhile, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) released a video that showed Hezbollah rockets striking a church in southern Lebanon overnight.

The IDF said several rockets launched by Hezbollah hit Saint George’s Orthodox Church in Marjaayoun village.

“This incident further proves how Hezbollah continues to endanger and harm Lebanese civilians,” the IDF said in a statement.

It added that Israeli troops were not operating near the church at the time of the strike, releasing photos that showed the impact of the Hezbollah rockets on the church building.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) released images of a US Air Force F-16 flying patrol missions over West Asia, asserting that the American forces remained “present and vigilant” in the region amid heightening tensions with Iran over the peace deal.

“A US Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon flies over the Middle East during a patrol,” CENTCOM posted on X. “US forces remain present and vigilant across the region,” it said.

The CENTCOM post came hours after Trump held a roughly two-hour Situation Room meeting on Iran.
