The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Chile, Francisco Pérez Mackenna, arrived in India on Saturday (May 09) for his official visit aimed at expanding bilateral engagement and deepening cooperation across key sectors.

The visit, scheduled from May 9 to May 15, will mark a series of diplomatic meetings and discussions focused on strengthening India-Chile relations and exploring fresh avenues of partnership.

Welcoming Francisco Pérez Mackenna, the Ministry of External Affairs said his trip would give further momentum to ties between the two countries and help open new areas of cooperation.

The Ministry of External Affairs shared a post saying, “Warm welcome to Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Francisco Pérez Mackenna of Chile, on his arrival in New Delhi for his first official visit to India. His visit will further strengthen India-Chile partnership and unlock new areas of cooperation.”

Chile FM to hold meetings with Indian ministers

Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez Mackenna is scheduled to hold a series of high-level meetings with senior Indian ministers and business leaders aimed at strengthening political and economic cooperation between the two countries.

India-Chile business events to focus on trade cooperation

The visit will begin on Monday (11 May) with industry-focused interactions. The delegation is expected to attend an event hosted by the Forum of Indian Food Importers at Hotel Taj Mahal, followed by another interaction organised by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India.

On Tuesday (12 May), according to an official statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, the delegation will hold talks with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.

The delegation will also participate in programmes organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, including a business event and the CII Annual Business Summit 2026.

S. Jaishankar meeting and India-Chile business dialogue scheduled

Wednesday’s (13 May) schedule includes a meeting with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhavan, followed by another round of discussions with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.

The delegation will later participate in a joint interaction with Indian and Chilean business representatives aimed at strengthening commercial partnerships and expanding bilateral business opportunities.

During the Bengaluru leg of the visit on Thursday (May 14), the delegation will meet Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, with discussions expected to focus on electronics, information technology, biotechnology and innovation-driven cooperation.
