At least 11 Pakistani security personnel, including an Army Major, were killed in a daring attack by Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) fighters on Tuesday (May 12, 2026).

According to reports on Wednesday (May 13), the Pakistan security personnel came under fierce attack in the Chamalang area, when 11 personnel were killed.

The attack, in the volatile Balochistan, occurred when the Pakistan Army personnel were reportedly conducting an intelligence-based operation in the region.

However, the operation was met with a “full-force retaliation” from the BLA fighters, leading to a prolonged and intense firefight.

In the military confrontation, BLA forces targeted Pakistan Army Major Tauseef and eliminated him on the spot.

Intelligence reports indicated that at least ten other security personnel fell alongside Major Tauseef as the BLA used a combination of coordinated ambushes and superior local terrain knowledge to trap the advancing Pakistani forces.

The BLA viewed this counterattack as a significant “reply” to the Pakistan Army’s recent attempts to dismantle its networks in Balochistan.

The BLA claimed the operation was part of its broader, more aggressive strategy involving IEDs and coordinated strikes, signalling a dangerous shift in the group’s tactical capabilities and its ability to inflict high-value casualties on the state’s military apparatus.

The timing of the assault was particularly critical as regional tensions, particularly with Afghanistan and the TTP, were shredding Pakistan’s internal security already.

Intelligence reports noted that the ongoing Iran war, involving the United States and Israel, had severely impacted the porous Balochistan borders.

The regional conflict choked the informal economic lifelines of Balochistan, specifically, the smuggling of Iranian fuel, which served as the backbone of local livelihoods in the border regions.

This economic strangulation triggered hyper-inflation, soaring prices, and widespread hardship, creating a fertile recruitment ground for the BLA.
